Deep within the bramble there is beauty everywhere. The flowers of the wild rose compete for the attention of a lovely butterfly. The fruit of the raspberry and blackberry glisten in the sunshine. Even the spider’s web may be called a lovely trap. A wonderful design, approximately 5 in. by 7 in. that is suitable for framing.
Techniques: The main focus of this is the various ways to use wire. We will start with a basic leaf that uses paper covered wire then advance to fancy leaves, flowers, and butterfly wings. While studying the flowers we will discuss the various styles of petals and flower centers. We will also work on two styles of berries. The blackberries and raspberries are padded and shaded by two different methods. The stitches utilized are backstitch, blanket stitch, bullion, cast-on stitch, chain stitch, couching, feather stitch, fly stitch, French knots, detached chain, long and short stitch, needleweaving, pistil, satin, spider web, stem, Ghiordes knot, and wheatear.
